Burnt city civilization

Burnt City is one of the historical and archeological monuments of the Bronze Age which with its intelligent and creative civilization has more than five thousand years old. This city as the largest urban settlement in the eastern part of the Iranian plateau is a unique example and a true narrator of science, industry, and culture,

This city was founded in 3200 BC and the people of the city lived in the four periods between 3200 and 1800 BC.

The city was built on the alluvium of the estuary of the Helmand River to Lake Hamoon. The period of construction of this great city coincides with the Bronze Age and the civilization of Jiroft.

The decline of Burnt city civilization

The invasion of neighbor invading tribes and the diversion of the Helmand River have been mentioned as the most important reasons for the decline of the burnt city civilization. Contrary to popular belief, there were no fires in the city.

There is not even evidence of weapons in this city. It was an industrial civilization; So there were many kilns operating whose ashes were dumped around the residential area.

Also, in the post-civilization period in this region, nomadic peoples dug up the ground and lit fires to prepare food. Under these conditions, the first archaeologists, when they visited the area, noticed that there was a large area of ash; So the first nickname they gave it was the burnt city.

Professions:

These people had acquired jobs for themselves by using the intelligence and ingenuity and made a profit from it through trade. They were engaged in fishing by making fishing nets and they were engaged in trade and income generation by selling the caught fish. Mosaics, textiles, goldsmithing, pottery, mat weaving, masonry, and jewelry making were among the other occupations that people engaged in. They cut down trees around the creek and used them as fuel to carry out these artistic and industrial activities, as well as to heat their homes.

Iranian carpet history

The Safavid period is a brilliant period of art revival in all fields. Valuable examples in most of the world-famous museums such as the famous Ardabil carpet are mostly the result of royal carpet weaving workshops in this period. The support of the Safavid sultans and their expression of interest in this profession caused the carpet weaving industry to rise from a profession and a rural profession to one of the fine arts. Shah Abbas had a big role in this field Because by establishing a carpet weaving workshop next to his royal palaces, he directly supervised the weavers to ensure the quality of their texture and elegance.

Shah Abbas, by gathering the best painters, designers, and weavers from all over the country in his royal workshops, created unique masterpieces of carpet weaving. By extinction of the Safavids, the art of carpet weaving began to decline. The Afghan invasion destroyed everything and revived the painful memory of the Mongol invasion in the public mind.

Nader Shah also could not try to preserve this art until carpet weaving which was still living in secret – gained more prestige during the Zandi period and was considered by the rulers. During the Qajar period, the export market flourished. Tabriz merchants set up numerous carpet weaving workshops not only in Tabriz but also in Kerman, Mashhad, Kashan, and other cities of Iran, and woven carpets found their way to Europe through Istanbul.

The oldest Carpet

If we accept Pazyryk as the oldest Iranian carpet, carpet weaving in Iran dates back to 500 BC, more than 2,000 years ago. Of course, evidence of the first Iranian carpet has been written in Chinese books, which is related to the Sassanid period. This art has undergone many changes in different historical periods. Among the influential factors on this ancient Iranian art can be mentioned in the Mongol invasion and the rise of Islam.

According to the international site of Iranian carpets, the oldest carpet in the world – Pazyryk carpet – is a completely Iranian Achaemenes work that is now kept in the Armitage Museum of Russia.

A sign of Iranian art can be seen in every handmade carpet and this type of carpet is popular in many cities around the world. In the seven divisions of world art, the name of the carpet is not mentioned and carpet has no special place in world art, But Iranian carpet is one of the most original artistic fields of this country.

Iranian carpet symbol of Iran Culture

when it comes to Iranian culture and identity, the carpet is undoubtedly one of the prominent symbols that show this culture and identity, All Iranian handmade carpets have their own destiny and story, and love and originality can be found in their story. A sign of Iranian art can be seen in handmade carpets of all cities, and in the world of symbolism, every carpet is readable like a book and has a story in it.

Apart from the carpet industry, which today has become one of the strongest commercial levers of the country, this Iranian art also has a cultural function.
So that the designs and patterns of each not only represent a special historical period but also reveal symbols of the culture of its weavers who are from specific regions of Iran.

The pattern of Iranian carpet

Iranian carpets, which have generally been the manifestation of Ferdows Barin or the gardens of Iranian paradise, have brought with them the atmosphere and tranquility of Iranian architecture. The use of colors such as turquoise, azure, amber and Iranian red and hundreds of other unique colors that originate from Iranian tiling and the variety of colors of the country’s soils, with the softness of silk and wool of nomadic sheep, deeply associated with the culture of this country.

Beginning of Iran carpet weaving

Although the date of the beginning of the carpet weaving is not known and it is not clear from which region the weaving of the carpet started, but most historians and archaeologists agree that the Iranians were among the first tribes to weave the carpet.

Evidence suggests that the carpet was created for purely functional purposes, such as protecting the villagers’ houses from the cold and damp and at least opened its way as ornamental work and a sign of change in the houses of aristocrats and nobles.

In the next article, we will describe the history of carpet weaving in Iran.

The weird location of the Young lake

When you see the photos of this place you cannot believe this amazing lake is located among the Lut desert and near one of the hottest places in the world. Gandom Beryan or buried Rig is a region covered with volcanic lava with an area of 480 square Kilometers which is located in Lut desert.

Volcanic lava which is covering the Grandom Beryan caused intense heat in this area. This region is also considered the lowest inland region of Iran and this is another reason for the extreme heat.  Nevertheless, the existence of a deep lake near the hottest place in Lut desert is a wonderful miracle.

The young lake is the phenomena of the new era

Let’s talk about this newfound phenomenon by detail. the main reason for existing of this lake is the flooding of the Shoor River and the main point is that the Shoor River never stops flowing and after flowing from the heights of South Khorasan, this river calms down at the end of the desert in the south of Lut desert in Kerman province.

The volume of water in the lake is very high, but there is a high percentage of salt in the water that it can only have a tourism attraction. Large volumes of rainwater have accumulated in the deepest part of Kalout and some have called it the Miracle of the Desert and some have called it the Young Lake.

The lake is so large that it creates waves and attracts migratory birds and has a considerable area. This lake is not only one of the most beautiful phenomena of the new era in Kerman province but also one of the tourism attractions in Iran & the world; that should be introduced to tourists around the world.

Persistence of the young lake of Lut desert

This is the first year that the lake was formed in this way, but in previous years, small ponds were created. for example, the King Mohammad hole was always a reservoir and dried up after a while. This lake has been formed from rains since May, and if it rains well this year, we will have this lake for another two years, depending on the volume of water in this area.

At least, it is a temporary miracle that you should not miss visiting it.

The future of Tourism post-COVID 19

The obvious issue is that many parts of our life affected by COVID-19 and they won’t get back to their previous procedure. Many estimates are being thrown around about the potential impact of COVID-19 on global and national economies. The virus is hitting organizations hard from all over the world. Businesses and people try to be compatible with this new situation. All of us should think in a different way and find the best compatible solutions with this condition.

Maybe it is hard to accept that our lifestyle has been changed and many things that we could do easily before Covid-19, are impossible to do now.

The most immediate and perhaps the most prolonged impact would be on travel and tourism sectors, nearly 120 economies now have some sort of travel restrictions ranging from outright blanket bans to all travelers to selective geographical restrictions for the same reason.

As the world slowly turns back to normal it is very likely that international travel restrictions will linger on to avoid “importing” new COVID-19 cases. To support their tourism sectors, countries may purposefully restrict outward travel and encourage local tourism as a substitute. In essence, domestic travel and tourism will be expected to substitute foreign tourism demand, at least for the time being. For some countries, this will not nearly be enough, especially in terms of generating foreign currency revenues.

At some later stage, In the beginning, countries may require a COVID-19 free certificate. Needless to say, host countries themselves will also need to show they are safe for tourists. This goes beyond having low reported infection numbers, but also having credible systems in place in case tourists do get sick. Such provisions may include government guarantee for private treatment. And of course, recipient countries will have to make it easier for travelers to arrive. This will mean improving visa application processes (making them online) or outright waiving them, perhaps as part of bilateral arrangements.

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought travel and tourism to a near-standstill, and no one is sure when it will restart. Experts say when travel does begin again, look for it to start with road trips not too far from home.

The new travel normal may mean a shift to vacation rentals over hotels, driving rather than flying, and an increase in the use of travel insurance and personal travel advisors. When people get more comfortable, they’ll continue to go farther and farther away from home, starting with domestic and then moving to international, long-term.

The most interesting thing is that there are more future reservations for the holidays right now than we have seen in that point of time in May 2019 for the holiday season last year, which means there’s a lot of optimism and people are planning ahead. we’re going to see a lot of families and multi-gen travel but in a different way, a safer way.

Desert survival skills

Some situations should happen to teach us something new, maybe a new experience which helps us in emergency situations make to find a better solution for the same situation next time. Desert is an intact and undiscovered place that encourages you to explore and discover it. But being in the desert needs some instructions, If you’re thinking of traveling anywhere among the vast arid stretches of our world, you may want to consider studying up on some desert survival skills before you go.

Triple-digit temps by noon. Freezing at night. Scarce water. The desert is as dangerous for unprepared hikers. Give yourself an edge and learn to survive this hostile territory while backpacking.

Desert survival is a delicate balance between staying out of the heat of the day and staying warm during the cold nights, between conserving the water you have and drinking enough of it to stay alive, and between stifling your feelings of hunger and seeking out any source of food which will you keep you alive.

Keep a lid on it: to lose less water cover your head, the more your head is exposed to direct sunlight, you become thirstier.

Get under cover: cover your body as more as you can to prevent burns.

Don’t drink the water: ration your water and try to drink one sip at a time.

Stay hungry: the more you keep yourself hungry, the less you will feel thirsty. And pay attention to this issue you will live longer without food than without water.

Keep your cool: try to be calm, because by being worried you feel thirstier and hungry although you will lose you hope to survive.

Make your mark: use stone or any other mark as more as you can to prevent being lost.

Keep your mouth shut to feel less thirsty.

The golden rule of desert survival? Look before you step or touch, and you’ll avoid surprise encounters with rattlesnakes, scorpions, and spiders. Check your shoes, sleeping bag, and anywhere you’re about to sit.

Love Day (valentine or Sepandarmazgan)

Love is endless, it exists from eternity to infinity. maybe it’s the worthiest thing in the world that if it encounters the darkness it wins undoubtedly. This powerful feeling solves every problem so it deserves to dedicated a day for itself. Every culture has a special day to appreciate love. Valentine’s day is the most known in many countries. But Persians have a day to appreciate love ‘Sepandarmazgan’, an ancient Persian festival with Zoroastrian roots is widely known as the Iranian Day of Love, which is celebrated on February 24.

This day is dedicated to Spenta Armaiti, the Amesha Spenta who is given the domain of “Earth”. The date of the festival as observed in the Sassanid era was on the 5th day of the month Spandarmad, the last month of the Iranian calendar, Esfand, which is from February 20 to March 20.

Although other Persian ceremonies such as Yalda night or Nowruz are bolder than Sepandarmazgan but is now the object of a renewed interest. Even though Valentine’s Day is celebrated in Iran, as well as everywhere in the world, a few days earlier, on February 14. Sepandarmazgan has not outshined its ancestor. It’s still the occasion for many couples to celebrate their love, in the purest Iranian tradition. However, Iran has one of the world’s richest civilizations boasting many events and celebrations similar to Western galas with nearly the same backstories.

February has long been celebrated as a month of romance; these celebrations are the reasons for being together and celebrate the purest feeling ever. On the Sepandarmazgan, lovers offer each other gifts, red roses or heart-shaped boxes which fulfill with chocolates, remembering together the famous Persian love story of Leyli and Majnun in mythical poems of Shahnameh, or Shirin and Khosrow in the collection of Nezami’s Panj Ganj as a Unesco’s memory of the world heritage. Anyway, the days to appreciate Love is Sepandarmazgan or Valentine, Love is a universal thing and it knows no borders.
